A man, who went through significant efforts to cut up the remains of his wife after she had taken her own life, has revealed that his primary motivation for the horrendous act was a desire to keep custody of his children.

According to his testimony, he was afraid that authorities would take away his children, which prompted him to not dial 911 after realizing that his wife was gone. It needs to be said he also claims that she died during childbirth at a Missouri hotel in October.

Justin Rey, 36, is currently not facing any charges related to the death of his wife, Jessica Rey, born Jessica Monteiro, although authorities did decide to charge him with child endangerment.

It is not clear if this will affect his chances of retaining custody over his children as the sole parent now, but things are definitely not looking good for him. He is additionally facing a charge for abandoning a corpse.

Rey’s children were found in a troubled condition after officers arrived at the scene, with his 2-year-old having a deep eye infection.

They are currently in protective custody and awaiting the results of Rey’s trial, although knowing the way the system works, it could take a while before we see any conclusion to that situation.

The latest development on the legal front was that Rey’s side submitted a “not guilty” plea, although chances are not looking very good for him given all the circumstances of how he dealt with the children.

The way he handled the body of his deceased wife also cast a negative light on the situation when it was revealed that she was skinned and parts of her were flushed down the toilet.

He was reportedly taken the remains to Arizona for burial. That was Rey’s explanation for the fact that the children were found with some of the wife’s remains.

Although he had a lot of trouble with the law in Arizona, he never went to state prison.
