The authorities detained two male representatives of the Catholic Church because of improper behavior in their car near Miami Beach.

39-year-old Diego Berrio and Edwin Giraldo Cortez, 30, were caught in a compromising position in their rented Volkswagen Beetle in broad daylight after a passer-by reported them to the police since everyone could see their Interaction.

Authorities arrived at the scene after the call was received and found the two priests still engaged in their sexual activities.

The officers found no difficulties in detecting the intruders because windows of the Volkswagen were not covered and the vehicle was stopped in the vicinity of a children playground.

Apparently, Berrio and Cortez were so caught up in what they were doing that they did not even notice the police officers standing next to the car at first, and it took knocking on the window for them to realize that they were being watched.

Berrio was a priest at Mission of San Juan Diego in Arlington Heights, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago. Cortez, an extern priest from Soacha, Colombia, was serving at the St. Aloysius Parish in Chicago.

Following their compromising act, both of them were dismissed from the ministry with Berrio being fired on Tuesday and Cortez stayed in custody a little longer.

The two men were charged with lewd and lascivious behavior. According to reports, they were caught having oral sex.

A spokesman, Ernesto Rodriguez, for the Miami Beach police said this after the arrest: “Their profession is irrelevant. Our trouble with this is that this is broad daylight, for anyone to see including children. There’s a time and a place for everything and this certainly was not the time and place.”

According to Anne Maselli, a representative of the Archdiocese of Chicago, it was the responsibility of the church to ensure that the priests who serve the people were fit for their positions at the ministry. Maselli also added that this matter was taken very seriously.

The two men have posted bail.
